I have served as the preaching minister for the Broken Arrow church since March 1, 2009.  I am extremely grateful to God for opening this door of ministry for me and for providing an opportunity to serve with such a wonderful congregation of His people.  I appreciate the humble spirit of the 11 shepherds who lead, feed, and protect this church, and I am grateful to work with such capable and experienced ministers like Scott, Mike, Rich, and the office staff.

I have been serving in ministry since 1983, working with churches in Australia, Hawaii, Tennessee, Alabama, and Texas.  I was born into a minister’s family and grew up primarily in the southeastern United States, with the exception of two years that my parents served as missionaries in Liberia, West Africa, in the early 1970s.  That is where my heart for Missions began to develop.  After graduating from Alabama Christian Academy in Montgomery, Alabama, I attended Faulkner University for a year before transferring to Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, where I earned a B.A. in Missions and later an M.A. in Biblical Studies.

I spent my first two years after college in a Missions Internship in Gympie, Queensland, Australia.  Upon returning to the U.S. in 1987, I met and married Kimberly Ann Gray of Corinth, Mississippi.  Kim and I have now been married for 21 years and have been blessed with two wonderful children:  Hannah, age 19, a freshman at Oklahoma Christian University, and Coleman, age 16, who is a junior in the special education department at Union High School in Tulsa.

I love the preaching and teaching aspects of my ministry, but I also feel blessed to be able to serve in personal evangelism, pastoral care, mentoring, and missions.  My favorite pastime is sharing time with my family, but I also enjoy golf, basketball, and tenis when my banged-up 47-year-old knees allow it.

I started blogging in 2009 as a means of having an expressive outlet for my thoughts, feelings, and faith.  You can visit Thinking Out Loud at http://timpyles.com.
